Our mission

The Rochester Police Foundation’s mission is to raise awareness, and provide funds that might otherwise be unavailable, to help the Rochester Police Department serve and positively interact with the community it protects.”

The Police Foundation works closely with the Office of the Chief of Police to develop and implement a strategic program to raise awareness and resources that are not readily available through other means to assist the Rochester Police Department, such as:

Rochester Police Foundation initiatives

Some of the initiatives we have funded include:

  • Assistance with the purchase and training of new police dogs for the K-9 unit and horses for the Mounted Patrol
  • Sponsorship of gun buyback campaigns
  • Sponsorship of community outreach programs such as: Adopt-A-Family Holiday program, Shop with a Cop, Books & Bears, and other neighborhood events that bring police and citizens together in a social environment
  • The purchase of personal ballistic safety shields
  • Assistance with projects and events that promote anti-violence messaging like the production of Front Row
  • Assistance to the families of Officer Daryl Pierson, Officer Manny Ortiz, Officer Dennison Wright, and other RPD families during times of need
